This case for 20 oboe reeds is extra strong and therefore somewhat heavy. It is made of transparent plexiglass. Its main advantage is that it contains a humidifier and a hygrometer, facilitating continuous humidity control. It is thus particularly useful for oboists working in very dry climates or in air-conditioned spaces; however it is less effective in a damp climate.
Optimum humidity is around 45 – 55%.
