Cane processing machines

We offer our customers a complete range of cane processing machines suitable for amateurs or professionals. The quality of these products is internationally recognized and represents state-of-the-art European expertise.

The Reeds’n Stuff company, headed by its founder Udo Heng, offers a variety of machines including a profiling machine with a complete line of templates. We are also pleased to offer a profiling machine by Chiarugi, equipped with a “Roseau Chantat” template modelled on our renowned German scrape reeds.

All machines are sold with a 3-year maintenance and repair service warranty for profilers, and a 1-year service warranty for pre-gouging and gouging machines.

Reed-making equipment

We stock a full range of equipment for all oboists who make their own reeds. We offer easels, cane splitters, micrometers, drying boards, pre-gougers, hardness and density testers, and diameter measuring tools. In order to process your cane with high precision, it is important rigorously to measure its diameter: by maintaining strict control of the diameter, you will ensure consistent gouging results, as well as control over the ratio of thickness between the center and sides of the reed.

Mandrels for oboe, oboe d’amore, and Cor anglais

We can provide you with the mandrel(s) best suited to your preferred staples. You will find mandrels by Le Roseau Chantant, Chiarugi, Lorée, Marigaux, Pisoni, and Rigotti. When tying on reeds, you should always use a mandrel that fits snugly into the bore of your staple, to avoid distoring the oval shape at the end, and to ensure precise moulding of the cane.

We advise extra care when using our CR2 staple, which is slightly thinner and more delicate than other staples on the market.

Straight-cane and folded-cane shapers

We offer straight-cane and folded-cane shapers for oboe, oboe d’amore and Cor anglais. Over the past decade, Le Roseau Chantant has focused its research on developing and expanding its unique’RC’series of straight-cane shapers.

Reed knives

We stock a range of steel and ceramic knives with razor style and bevel edged blades, from good quality student knives to premium quality professional knives. We are particularly proud of our perfectly balanced Japanese Ando and Nagamatsu knives, which require no pressure, giving a very precise finish to your scrape.

We also stock the Ando reed tip cutter – a useful and practical tool, especially for students.

Sharpening stones for reed knives

Here is a collection of sharpening stones for your reed knives, to ensure absolute precision at the fine-scraping stage. You will find leather strops, water stones, and ceramic stones.
