Without prejudice, here are some advantages and disadvantages:  it will help prevent air leaks, but will also somewhat reduce the vibrating capacity of your read.<br \/>\nIf you apply it cleverly, however, it will help maintain good reed aperture and prevent the two blades from crossing.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note : <\/strong>Do not wrap the film beyond 0.7 &#8211; 0.8 above the top of the thread.  The biggest problem with plastic film is that it keeps moisture in and does not allow the reed to dry out properly, especially with a new reed.
