Le Roseau Chantant harvests its own cane between December and the end of February in the world-famous Camargue region of southern France. This region is a nature reserve and a refuge for rare birds, plants and animals. The land, with its rich alluvial Rhône Delta soil and high silica content, is excellent for growing Arundo Donax. The Mistral wind from the Alps and the humidity from the Mediterranean produce a cane of perfect choice for all oboists.<\/p>\n

Densities<\/h5>\n

Le choix du Roseau Chantant selection is available in three different densities: Hard Density (HD), Medium Density (MD) and Softer Density (SD).<\/p>\n

Density and drying method<\/h5>\n

We dry the cane in two different ways: by wind and by sun exposure:
1. Wind-dried cane
2. Sun-dried cane<\/p>\n

The fibres of the wind-dried cane remain softer and more delicate compared with those of sun-dried cane.
We use wind-dried cane for our “Softer Density” (SD) category).
We use sun-dried cane for our Hard Density (HD) and Medium Density (MD) categories.<\/p>\n

Please note that all the cane is stable and fully ready for immediate use.<\/em><\/p>\n

The gouged cane comes in bundles of 10 pieces.<\/p>\n

Performing these operations on soaked cane would distort the collected data (thickness can increase by up to 0.01mm – 0.02mm when wet).<\/em><\/p>\n
